Project Scope

The best way to control the risk of breast cancer is to know your body. Braster uniquely gives you the ability to conveniently monitor changes in your breast and make better decisions about your health, before you might be in danger. Using cutting edge liquid crystal contact thermography and proprietary algorithms that improves with each screening, Braster seeks to empower women with a reliable solution they can use at home and that seamlessly fits into their busy lifestyle.

How might we provide women a non invasive, reliable and transparent home breast cancer screening experience?

Methods & tools:

Research

As a brand new product introducing the market we first started to dive into the current breast cancer solutions. The conclusion is that existing conventional solutions are failing too many women. Dig a little deeper into the science and it is revealed that the real key lies in knowing how the breast tissue is changing over short intervals, so you know when to take action and how. Braster’s monthly screens provide the solution – insight into changes and immediate peace of mind.

50%

of women with breast cancer learn they have it too late

75%

100%

of breast cancer cases diagnosed at an early stage are curable

Customer journey

As we designed the product and the app along the way, we tried to focus on all of these micro interactions between the device and the application based on our customer journey. From the awareness towards the doctor feedback.

UX research phase

From the briefing to the first prototypes, as we really wanted to focus on an overall product experience, I've also took place in the industrial design workshops with the team. Brainstorming and sketching towards a reliable and unobtrusive device. The main challenge was to create a trustworthy device that is acceptable to place on women breast. Fitting both the healthcare and lifestyle expectations.

The solutions came thanks to various rough mockups and several user tests in situation.
